In order to promote the cooperation between the Law & Technology Institute of Wuhan University and research institutions of German university, Prof. Hong Zhang, director of the Center, was invited to a number of German universities for academic exchange from April 27 to May 3, 2023.

On April 27, 2023, Prof. Hong Zhang was invited by Prof. Dr. Arkadiusz Wudarski（https://www.rewi.europa-uni.de/de/lehrstuhl/pr/polprivrecht/index.html）from Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt （Oder） （https://www.rewi.europa-uni.de/de/index.html）to deliver an academic lecture entitled “Personality rights protection: China and Germany” for the faculty and students of the Law School of the University. Prof. Hong Zhang elaborated the differences between the Chinese Civil Code and the German Civil Code firstly. Then, he taught the relevant provisions of the protection of personal rights and the attributes of the right of personality in the Chinese and German civil codes, as well as the similarities and differences between the protection of personal information in China and the European Union. This lecture hosted by Dr. Arkadiusz Wudarski was held both offline and online. Colleagues from Germany, Poland, Turkey, Bulgaria, Egypt and other countries and regions participated in the discussions. After the lecture, Prof. Hong Zhang and Prof. Dr. Arkadiusz Wudarski jointly agreed on a further cooperation plan between the two parties.
On April 29, 2023, Prof. Hong Zhang went to Osnabrück Universität（https://www.uni-osnabrueck.de/startseite/） to visit his doctoral thesis supervising Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Christian von Bar, FBA, MAE（https://www.elsi.uni-osnabrueck.de/elsi_lehrstuehle/prof_dr_dr_hc_mult_christian_von_bar_fba_mae_ausser_dienst/zur_person.html）. Prof. Dr. von Bar has been committed to the academic research on the unification of Private Law in Europe for a long time. For instance, his book Gemeineuropäisches Deliktsrecht (Comparative Tort Law in Europe, Vol. 1, translated by Xinbao Zhang, Law Press, 2001 edition; Second volume, translated by Meihua JIAO, corrected by Xinbao Zhang, Law Publishing House 2004 Edition) is familiar to Chinese scholars. Prof. Dr. von Bar also introduced his latest book to Prof. Hong Zhang: Gemeineuropäisches Sachenrecht Band I(2015) Band II (2019) and Gemeineuropäisches Privatrecht der natürlichen Person (2023). Prof. Hong Zhang introduced some hot issues of Chinese civil law research to Prof. Dr. von Bar. In addition, Prof. Hong Zhang visited Dr. Jose Carlos de Medeiros Nobrega（https://fis.uni-osnabrueck.de/vivouos/display/MeJo612）at Osnabrück Universität. Dr. Nobrega directs the research on Portuguese and Spanish law at the European Legal Studies Institute (https://www.elsi.uni-osnabrueck.de/en/home.html) . He has been to Wuhan, Nanjing, Macao and other places to carry out academic exchange activities.
On May 2, 2023, Prof. Hong Zhang visited Prof. Dr. Martin Schermaier（https://www.jura.uni-bonn.de/institut-fuer-roemisches-recht-und-vergleichende-rechtsgeschichte/prof-dr-martin-schermaier）at Bonn Universität. Prof. Dr. Schermaier, whose academic expertise includes civil law and history of private law, is the director of Institut für Römisches Recht und Vergleichende Rechtsgeschicht（https://www.jura.uni-bonn.de/institute-und-lehrstuehle/institut-fuer-roemisches-recht-und-vergleichende-rechtsgeschichte）at Bonn Universität. Prof. Hong Zhang presented Prof. Dr. Schermaier a copy of the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China (in Chinese and English). Both sides agreed on the next step of mutual visits and academic exchanges.
On May 3, 2023, Prof. Hong Zhang visited Prof. Dr. Sebastian Omlor（https://www.uni-marburg.de/de/fb01/professuren/zivilrecht/prof-dr-sebastian-omlor）at Philipps-Universität Marburg（https://www.uni-marburg.de/de）. Prof. Dr. Omlor, whsoe academic expertise includes civil law and data law, is the director of Institut für das Recht der Digitalisierung（https://www.irdi.institute/）at Philipps-Universität Marburg. Prof. Hong Zhang not only presented Prof. Dr. Omlor a copy of the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China (in Chinese and English), but also invited Prof. Dr. Omlor to give a lecture at the Law & Technology Forum of Wuhan University. Prof. Dr Omlor agreed to give a lecture soon. Besides, Prof. Dr. Omlor plans to visit the Law & Technology Institute of Wuhan University in the fall of 2024.
