On September 27, Zhou Qiang, Secretary of the Leading Party Group and President of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), came to our university for research and delivered a speech at the symposium on issues related to international law in 120 Lecture Hall. Yang Wanming, member of Leading Party Group and vice president of the Supreme People's Court, presided over the symposium. Wang Yanling, Member of the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, Han Jin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Wuhan University, President Dou Xiankang, and You Quanrong, President of the Hubei Provincial Higher People's Court, participated in the relevant activities.

Wang Yanling delivered a welcome speech. She said that the symposium focused on the theme of how to play the role of international law under the condition of normalization of epidemic prevention and control, as well as foreign-related legal talents, which was very timely and important. She believed that with the joint efforts of experts and scholars, the meeting would achieve rich results.

Han Jin said that the People's Court is the main battlefield directly involved in handling foreign-related cases and an important platform for cultivating foreign-related rule of law talents. Wuhan University seeks to conduct more extensive cooperation with the Supreme People's court. He also requested the Supreme People's court to set up a "Training Base for International Rule of Law Talents" at Wuhan University.

Huang Jin, Vice President of the China Law Society and President of the Chinese Society of International Law; Liu Renshan, Vice President of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law; Xiao Yongping, Director of the Institute of International Law at Wuhan University; Yu Minyou, Dean of Wuhan University China Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies; Huang Zhixiong, Vice Dean of Wuhan University School of Law; Feng Jiehan, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Law at Wuhan University; Prof. Yang Zewei; and prof. Deng Lie of Huazhong University of Science and Technology School of Law, gave the speech.

Zhou Qiang gave the concluding remarks. He said it is important to study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech, further strengthen the study and application of international law, firmly uphold the international order based on international law, serve a higher level of opening up to the outside world, and strive to make positive contributions to promoting the building of an open world economy and a community of human destiny.
